Title: Brown/Dick- Greenock
Post by: katye on Saturday 17 September 05 22:23 BST (UK)
I have just started researching my family tree and am looking for some info about my great grandparents. My great grandfather, William Lang Brown, was born in Greenock in1885/86 and was killed in 1917 in Egypt(most likely at Gallipoli). He was married to Jane Dick. My Grandma(Susan White Lang Brown) was born in 1911 She had one sibling, a sister. Her mother remarried in 1917, Samuel Casement . There were 3 children born- I have very little info about them. My Grandma was largely brought up by her mother's parents, of whom I know nothing. I would be grateful for any info. Thank you,

Thanks William for the links, but I have looked at those sites. I have used SP for some time now but the information I am looking for is too recent.

Regards, Katye

Hello katye - I hope this still finds you although the message I'm replying to on Rootschat is several years old.  Its regarding your message re. William Lang BROWN.  I also have a William Lang BROWN in my tree, born abt 1876, married Margaret SINCLAIR in Greenock in 1908.  They had 2 children - Margaret (Peggy) BROWN born 1908/09 and William Sinclair BROWN born 1909/10 and died April 1911.  The mother Margaret also died in April 1911.  We know nothing of the father William beyond that date.

Does any of this fit in with what you know about your William Brown?  Or any of his relatives?  I would be so glad to hear from you.  Thank you.
