Title: After 30 years of genealogy at a desk, I built something different
Post by: martin mosley on Thursday 28 May 26 23:11 BST (UK)
Hello everyone — it’s been a while since I’ve posted regularly, though some of you may remember me from years back.

I’ve spent the past 18 months building something I’d like to share with the RootsChat community, because this is exactly the audience I had in mind when I built it.

Heritage Compass is a mobile app that imports your GEDCOM family tree and speaks to you when you’re near a place your ancestors lived, worked, or were buried. Not a notification — a personal narrative drawn from your own data. It works anywhere in the world.

A companion app, Heritage Journal, uses AI to transcribe historical documents — parish registers, census returns, wills, Latin records — and attaches them directly to your family tree.

And Heritage Compass Western Front — currently in beta — covers the Great War battlefields of France and Belgium with 21,000 authoritative locations from Commonwealth, French, German, and American sources.
