Title: parents of Elizabeth Roberts

Trying to find the parents of Elizabeth Roberts.
Elizabeth married George Pritchard in Chirk in 1832. the marriage was by licence so presumably one or both where under age. George has his parish as chirk. Elizabeth Llangollen. just info George b 1814 in Chirk to Thomas and ann.
Elizabeth dies in oswestry 1857.
census records of 1841/1851  give her age as about 1814. and locations as llandrillo and also Denbighshire. have found births
llandrillo yn edeirnon in 1813 of Elizabeth to thomas&magaret-rob&Mary and Robert&elizabethalso David and Elizabeth in 1815. IN Llangollen I have Elizabeth b 1812 to Owen&Sydney also Edward and ann in 1814 Trevor Isaf and Sarah Mary in 1816. In llantysilio I have Benjamin&Dorothy 1816. would appreciate any opinions or advice please.thanks.brian

Have you not noticed that the marriage was witnessed by an Edward Roberts  :-\

The marriage was at Llangollen.  George was of the parish of Chirk and Elizabeth was OTP (Of the parish of Llangollen)

Historically - Llandrillo was in Merionethshire & Llandrillo Merionethshire is shown as her birthplace on the 1851 census

thanks you. yes it does say Merionethshire on the Census. but another one says Denbighshire, and the marriage gives Elizabeths parish as llangollen

She was living in Denbighshire in 1841 & the 1841 does not show specific birthplaces.  I suspect the enumerator may have assumed she was born in the county in which she was living.

Llandrillo was in Merionethshire until 1974

She was of the parish of Llangollen at the time of her marriage. That does not mean that she was born there.

thank you. understand but as she says this on her marriage and on the 1841 census she indicated Denbighshire as her place of birth. think llandrillo an error. thank you for the research.

To be "of this parish" you only had to satisfy a residence of 3 weeks

The 1851 shows her aged 37 & the 1857 death reg as 45
