Title: Forenames on 1871 Census
Post by: mike2005 on Monday 02 March 26 20:36 GMT (UK)
Hi,

Hope someone can help but the quality of the image doesn't make things any easier!

I'm struggling to confirm any of the forenames (except probably John) on this census record from 1871.

I think I know what they should be but I really can't marry that information with the image.

First post here so not sure if you want that information or whether that just creates a bias, anyway let me know.

Thanks for any help

Hi Mike and welcome to Rootschat.  I think your queries were published on 8 March and Rootschat went offline shortly afterwards. Now that order is restored, I've been able to take a look at this for you.

The transcriptions of this Scottish census on FindMyPast and The Genealogist are consistent:

Matthew
Agnes
Matthew
Mary
William
John
Ellice

For a better quality image, ask Scotland's People for a re-scan by clicking on the 'Report an issue' tab at top right of the page.
