I'm struggling to decipher the handwriting on a death certificate. It dates from 1930, Australia.
I was going to say what I thought it said but I'd prefer people come to it with no preconceptions.

Was going to say subcutaneous for the first word, but not so sure. Second word abcess.
Don't know about the second line.
Third line looks to be myocardial failure.

Yes, I came up with abcess and myocardial failure as well, just wanted to make sure that I wasn't seeing things - subphrenic could work, I'll look into it; toxaemia is possible - yes, a 40 year old woman, unmarried, listed as spinster, not impossible she was pregnant though. What ever it was she was going into hospital for it to be operated on and she didn't survive the operation, that's why I'm curious about what it was.

No antibiotics back then so it could have been a type of blood poisoning, and nothing to do with being pregnant.
I had a great aunt that died in 1930 after an operation to remove her appendix. Thought I had her death registration but can't find it. Something about blood poisoning from memory.
