Hello everyone,
I am searching for a Nicholas Jacob Ludis Mayers, He died in Totnes Devon in 1938, he was a Jewish immigrant. I cannot find any other record of him anywhere in the UK. Just his death register, and his name on his daughter's marriage certificate.
All I know that he was a confectioner.
He had a daughter called Elaine Alice Mayers (or Alice Elaine Mayers) Elaine Alice worked in Plymouth and married in 1940.
I have been searching through countless records, reading through sweet shop history, searched all census, passenger lists etc and I cannot seem to find anything :(
There's also some letters next to his name on the marriage certificate that I can't work out. I'll post a photo with the post.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Kind regards

FindMyPast has the Catholic baptism of
Jacob Nicholas Mayer, born 28 Mar 1872, bap 13 Feb 1877, Parish of Notting Hill, Church St Francis of
Assissi, father Andrew, mother Annae Billkem** - address 90 Silchester Road
** - as transcribed but original looks like Billhem
Various newspapers - Sep 1886.
A 14 year old Nicholas Jacob Mayers, of Silchester Road, Notting Hill, father Andrew Mayers, baker, appeared in Court accused of killing his 7 year old brother.
I wondered if the occupation "baker" might link to "confectioner"?
