Title: Bucks Herald 1862
Post by: mentmore on Tuesday 17 February 26 14:40 GMT (UK)
In the Bucks Herald 22 March 1862, there is an article:  Overturned cart. Nephew Varney injuries -recovery - almost hopeless.
Is someone, please, able to tell more? Hopefully the Nephews name.

Thanks

Can't help ref report.  Assuming he died - the only male death in 1862 in Bucks was George Varney aged 1 died Dec 1862 Leighton Buzzard

b Dec 1861 - parents Alfred & Ann (nee Jordan)

Henry Pratt married Harriet Varney 1844.  1861 shows a Leonard Varney aged 17 apprentice cooper.

Henry Pratt was a cooper

However - Leonard only died in 1922!!  In 1871& 1881 he is a photographer

CaroleW, ShaunJ

Thank you both for your replies.  The name Pratt does 'ring a bell'.  I do know that a Varney married into the Pratt family.  Will have to do some more research.

Many thanks
Carol

Hi

I have found a copy of the Bicester Herald for 28th March 1862.
It says that Leonard is Henry Pratt's brother in law and not his nephew....and that he is "in a fair way to recover from the injuries".

Hello Carol.
   Yes it's been a while hasn't it.
Drove through Ledburn and Mentmore last week there's a nice garden centre at Tring. Nice little drive.
