I'm trying to reconcile two Samuel Callards who both married Ann apparently on 17/18 Jul 1774. My information is that Samuel-1 (31 Dec 1752 19 Aug 1839) married Ann Shepherd (20 May 1783 9 Aug 1802) and Samuel-2 (28 Mar 1749 - ????) married Ann Whiteway (29 Jun 1752 9 Aug 1802). One might suspect that there is just one Samuel Callard and one Ann, but both Samuels and both Anns appear to have reasonably well identified ancestors. The real challenge is in trying to identify their respective children, as most online resources variously cite both Samuels and both Anns as parents of all the children about 15!
If anyone has conclusive information about which children belong to which Samuel and which Ann, I would appreciate it being shared with me. One of those Samuels is my 4th ggf.

In the same parish?
Have you seen the original records?
Some of your dates don't make sense. Both Anns have the same death-date and Ann Shepherd was born before she was married.
I can see Samuel Callard to Ann Whiteway in 1774 parish Staverton
I can see Samuel Callard to Ann Shepherd in 1776 parish Buckfastleigh
These two areas are pretty close together, so it's possible Samuel married Ann W, then she died young and he remarried to Ann S.

Welcome to rootschat
The Samuel Callard / Ann Whiteway marriage was by Licence, Samuel was of the parish of Buckfastleigh, Devon and Ann was of Staverton.
Marriage took place 18th July 1774. They both signed
The Samuel Callard / Ann Shepherd took place at Buckfastleigh on 12 May 1776
Which child of Samuel is your direct line

Looking at Buckfastleigh burials there are these that are likely to be the Samuel and Ann corresponding with those 2 marriages
Samuel Callard buried 05 Jan 1827 age 77 (bn c1750)
Samuel Callard buried 13 Aug 1839 age 86 (bn c1753)
Ann Callard buried 18 Jan 1817 age 66 (bn c1751)
You could purchase the death certificate for the 1839 death as that may gives some clues about family, digital copies are available from the GRO for £3. There may be grave markers which could indicate which Samuel links with which Ann.
