I am trying to locate Jane Clark(e) of Chaddesden, Derbyshire.
Christened in St Mary’s Church, Chaddesden 25th May 1823
Parents:
William Clark(e), Farm Labourer (abt 1791 - 1867)
and Ann (abt 1795 - 1879)
Jane had a child, Reuben Clarke, out of wedlock - Born 15th June 1843 and Christened 27 Dec 1846, (in Chaddesden)
No idea who his father is.
Reuben was living with his grandparents in the 1851 Census. No sign of Jane.
I am assuming she got married, moved away or died. I have checked potential marriages, census’ and death records but have not been able to move this research forward.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you

Who is Reuben with in 1861?
-
There is a marriage on freebmd in 1847 Derbyshire for a Jane Clarke & Charles Frost but entry shows her father was John
-
Who is Reuben with in 1861?
in 1861 he is working for John Barker, Farmer of 220 acres, as a 'servant' in Chaddesden.
Luckily they were accurate with Reubens, age and place of birth which helped to find him relatively quickly.
In 1871 he was Married to Emma (Carrington) with two children, still living in Chaddesden

Thank you CaroleW, I have looked at the images for this marriage and I am doubtful that this is the correct Jane. This has Jane's father as 'John Clarke' a pot burner. My Jane's father is called William.
Thank you for looking this record out and letting me know though, it is another one to tick off the list as a possibility. Much appreciated

Not having much luck I’m afraid but there is a Jane Clark charwoman born 1823 who died 15 May 1862.
Spital Cemetery Chesterfield
Sorry I don’t know areas in Derbyshire but this Jane would be around in 1861 to check out.
Nothing else obvious with Chaddesden birthplace :-\
Did she have siblings to check out to see if she was with them? You have probably tried that.

On Freereg there is a marriage on 20 March 1855 of a Jane Clark, spinster age 27 to George Clark, bachelor, butcher, age 34 at Duffield, Derbyshire. Brides father is William Clark, farmer. Brides age is a bit out but I haven't investigated any further

Thank you for looking Milliepede, I will check out the possibility.
I have traced most of her siblings through a number of census and unfortunately she hasn't appeared in any of them. I am continuing to cast my net quite wide with the family to see if there are any clues available

Thank you for looking into all these different potentials Ladyhawk, it is very much appreciated. I will follow up the potential leads that you have found for me.
I did have a brief look in the past at whether Jane may have left the country, but given her fairly common name, I didn't get very far. Maybe an angle to review again, there may be more records available online now.
With regards to Reuben's marriage certificate where he named his father as John Clarke. After locating him baptism record I figured he just took his mother's name and turned it into John so he didn't leave the section blank?? the fact he said that he was a 'Bank Man' is interesting though, given that his Grandfather William was never described as such...maybe that was his actual fathers profession?
