An unrecognised device was detected on your account. We recommend comparing your keys with your contacts to secure the chat. =this keeps appearing on my fb what does it mean and what does comparing the keys mean any help appreciated i only use my laptop i dont use net on my phone

Every device in an end-to-end encrypted messenger chat has a special key that's used to protect the conversation. Details of how to check keys and why they may change are detailed on fb;

It's also worth checking the spam folder in messenger for message requests and leaving any chats you have unknowingly been added into, don't be too surprised to find you have been added to dozens of chats with names containing 'room full of love', 'live cam', 'private chat' and 'passion room'.
