He married a widow, Lidia James in Beccles 18 October 1794.

Lidia was buried Beccles 17 December 1812 aged 44 and noted as wife of Jonathan James

Jonathan then married Susan Stubbs 19 January 1813.

Thank you both the dates you confirm are the same as the documents I have. The name Hambling has some many different spellings at times its a problem for me to sort out. I have some where the father surname is Hambling and the children surname is Hembling. Any reason why?

It's all down to reading the handwriting. I'm sure someone has read an 'e' instead of an 'a', or even possibly misheard due to a local accent.

He was also a member of the Freemasons
19.8.1795 Jonathon Hambling 30 joined the Yarmouth branch.He is a Innkeeper from Beccles.

Lidia Eggett married Morgan Ward 22.3.1791 at Yarmouth .They had one son Mrgan John 16.9.1793 at Beccles .Morgan senior dying before the birth 20.1.1793 age 26.
Not sure if you have Barbara's 26.6.1794 Beccles age 27.
