Please .
Can anyone find Arthur Gilliland after 1933, last recorded as being in Blackpool. I have got him from birth through 3 marriages. I`ve added extra info in case anyone else is looking for him, in the census when he is with his family and first wife he says born Bolton. After that he is b Liverpool and Ireland. Mary Howells is just as bad , but as there are none of her marriages on line then I don`t know who her father was . I won`t be buying certificates. There are a few

I'd had a go at tracking Arthur after responding to your other post - but not a great deal of success.
Added - I'd spotted an Ernest Gilligan in Charles Street, pawnbroker, Cheshire Observer, 17 Sep 1904, which I intended following up.

I think that is Arthur , in 1901 he is a pawnbrokers assistant. Thanks.

Presumably you've tried searching the 1939 register with just DoB and no name, he may be badly mistranscribed or using a false name that bears some relationship to his true name. I'd expect there to be may be a few hundred to work through but you could pick off the ones local to Blackpool (last sighting) first.
Jane :-)

It would appear that until a £3 gro birth record is purchased we will not have an exact dob to search war register with.

GILLILAND, ARTHUR mmn GRERE
GRO Reference: 1870 M Quarter in BOLTON
it narrows it down a bit. This project is really about the Hat, but just curious as to where he went.
Thanks.

I have tried finding the death of his third wife, Annie Elizabeth Taylor, but again nothing.I wonder if she got rid of the Gilliland name, but that's nothing to do with the Hat.

No she did not lose the surname, easy when you have exact dob.. She appears in Derby in 1939 and dies
