Hi, and thanks for reading my post!
I am stuck! I have Arthur Kelly (b.1906 and d.1967) but I cannot find any records prior to his marriage to Winifred Ashby in Coventry in 1928.
Through newspaper trawling, from a memorial notice, I discovered his father was Bill (William?) Kelly and his mother Mary Kelly. And also that there was a sister Mary who married Thomas Wareham.
However, I cannot find any of them before 1928. There is a family rumour that someone changed their surname when they went AWOL from the military, but again, nothing concreate. All of the records I have are in the Coventry area, but no baptism.
I can send off for Arthur's marriage certificate, as I haven't found a matching parish record online.
Could they have been Catholic? Although apart from the surname having Irish connections, there's nothing to suggest it.
Any help would be amazing.
Thanks

The high page number (1495) for the 1928 marriage entry would suggest to me that it was a Register Office marriage. :-\
