Can anyone identify the first name of this person please? Last name I'm sure is Arnold, the document is early 1800s
-
Can we have a little more text and letters, please?
It's also very small at only 6.25kB.
-
Just had a quick search and there are several records for Hattill Arnold - different people.
I thought it looked like that but wanted to check.
-
I agree, Hattill ARNOLD. As Heywood says there are a few people of that name, sometimes Hattil (a male).
-
Looks like Hattill to me too.
Regards

Thanks all.
This is an image with more text, and a couple of instances of the ? Arnold name.
The document is an Indenture, Names on it are Thomas Chilton (Grantor), Thomas Eagles Bartlett and ? Arnold (Grantees).
Unfortunately I had to photograph it through glass in its frame very quickly so the quality isn't great. I've run the image through ChatGPT to get a transcription but it struggles with some of the text, I'm trying to work my way through it but it's not easy, particularly as I'm not familiar with the old script and some of the terms used!

What is the date of the document?
Have you looked anywhere else for Hattill Arnold?

Are you looking for more information re Mr Arnold or a ‘translation’ of the document?

The date is pretty illegible (see image - if anyone can decipher it I'd be most grateful!) but likely early 1800s.
I've found a marriage between a Hattill Arnold and Sarah Salmon in Banbury 11 Nov 1797, which is the right area and era - so sounds like that's the name.

Looks like its the forty fifth year of the reign of George III which is:
25 October 1804 til 24 October 1805

Thanks, that makes sense. Does the date read "twelfth day of February"? Looks like it to me.

Really I'd like a transcription of the document, as I mentioned, ChatGPT manages some of it and I'm struggling with the rest. Unfortunately I don't have access to the original document at the moment.
The background is that Thomas Chilton appears to have been the first owner of our local pub, around 1809. So this Indenture looks like the sale of his properties in the village, to Thomas Eagles Bartlett and Hattill Arnold, to possibly finance the purchase (or building) of the pub.

Yes the 12th of February which would be 1805.
