Title: R A F Long Service Medal...
Post by: jess5athome on Friday 16 January 26 21:41 GMT (UK)
Hi, just a quick question, is it possible to trace details of a member of the RAF from a Long Service Medal:

Sgt G Lawrence 508300,

Or is the only way through the National Archive?

Many thanks and as always my very best regards.
Frank

Hi,

There is a "form 434" record at FindMyPast which eems to be a transfer record for him, from the 96th Royal Devon Yeomanry Field Bde R.A (T.A). Period  28.11.27 - 25.01.28, Gunner 778014.

508300
George Henry LAWRENCE
DOB:  09 Oct 1909
Birth town:  Barnstaple, Devonshire
Occupation:  Porter
Attestation age:  18
Attestation date:  26 Jan 1928

There are other personal details about him but only a couple of deatails about his early service.

Regards,
Daisy

Hi Daisypetal, thank you so much for that, I did try Ancestry but could not find any results, I will purchase credits and take a look.

Once again, thank you so much for this, and my very best regards always.
