Got resuts back recently and a list of relevant matches.
Found my long lost g g grandfather who was proving very elusive as he wasn't married to g g grandmother when their son my g grandfather was born.

Maybe this should be posted on the 'Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing' board. :)

I think it is far too interesting to be sidelined. It might well encourage others to get a test, which would not happen if it didn't get a lot of viewings. I'm really pleased for you Zetlander. It's not a technical question.

once you look and get to grips with your matches, you might want to invest in a month or two pro tools add-on. You will be able to see who else your matches match with, this helps when there are limited or no trees of someone who is matching quite close and infuriating that you can’t see where as their tree is possibly all private or just one or two people. I have found it really useful.

Had spent about 30 years searching for this 'missing' relative (as he wasn't married to g g grandmother very difficult to find.) Interestingly his first name has been passed down through the generations.
I paid Ancestry £50 in November - list of relatives - close and distant - arrived recently. I'm not sure whether or not I'll contact any of them (some I already know.)
Finding g g g'father was enough and I think it was £50 well spent. My subscription runs out next month and I wont be renewing.
(Of course had the other descendants of the missing guy not joined Ancestry I wouldn't have been lucky.)

Main area is undertaking the Grouping, that will help validate all the other branches be finding the MRCA in each branch to a DNA Match.
At the end of the above post I have listed a couple of research books that will help ones understanding.
