I am looking for any information at all concerning Henry Hall. I have nothing but a marriage for him . He wed Helen Cowan in the parish of Applegarth and Sibbaldbie , Dumfries 25/08/1799 . Helen was born in Kirkcudbrightshire 1771 and died 21/06/1844 . They had a daughter called Grace born in Lochmaben 1808 _ 1876

What information does the marriage give for him? No fathers name or occupation or age?
Anything about him on his daughters birth other than his name?
-
Is he on the 1841 census?
-
I can only see a BETSY 1808 and GRIZEL 1806 to Henry HALL and Nelly COWAN
1841 Census has Helen born Dumfriesshire.
1841 Census
Lochmaben
John Hurburn 34
Helen Cowan 60
Grace Thorburn 34
Henry Thorburn 8
Jean Thorburn 5
Mary Thorburn 3
Hellen Thorburn 2
I think someone has the 1841 Census for another Helen Cowan, Female Servant born Kirkcudbright
There are 2 other children on F/S.Org, Father as Henry HAW**, Mother Helen COWAN;
JANET 1800 and ANDREW 1803 Moffatt

Thank you all for the replies ,they are much appreciated . Henry Hall is not on the 1841 census ,only his wife and children as found by trish1120 . The marriage from Scotland`s people says wed at Applegarth, Dumfriesshire with no parents names .

It's very unusual for a church marriage record to give the names of the couple's parents. In some parishes the name of the bride's father is sometimes recorded, and very rarely, if the groom's father was a prominent citizen, you might get his name. I have never seen a pre-1855 church record that gives the name of either of the couple's mothers.
