Hi all, I am looking for the above Henry Green and his parents in 1881. Henry was born abt 1873 in Canterbury Kent, he married in 1896 to Emily Simpson in York, he was 22 she was 24. His occupation on the certificate was 'Private'17th Lancers, stationed at Fulford Barracks. His father was given as William Green , occupation Upholsterer (deceased). I have found a Henry Green in 1891 , soldier 17th barracks age 18 , birth town Northgate Kent. I have also found Henrys service records in 1887 so he would have been only 14 when he signed up. His mother is mentioned on the service records as Elizabeth Green living at 11 Notley Street, Northgate Kent, which is great, HOWEVER when i look on the 1881 census records there is a Henry Green, age 10 living at Northgate in Canterbury Kent with his mother Elizabeth, but his father is James Green, and he is a Bell ringer, so completely different from father being William Green an upholsterer. Henry Green and wife Emily were living in Wiggington Rd,York by 1911 his occupation was a coal carter, in 1921 they were in Filey in Yorkshire with their 4 children. They both disappear after this census. Please could somebody see if they can help with Henry and his parents in 1881 and maybe even find were they both died. Any help very much appreciated, thank you all in advance xx

Hi Rosie99, that is definately the correct Elizabeth Green in Notley Street in 1891, but if she was married to James Green, a bell ringer why would her son Henry put on his marriage certificate his father was called William Green, an Upholsterer, thats the part that confuses me as the names and occupations are not even similar, thanks for your help x

Baptism 18 December 1873 at St Gregory, Canterbury
Henry Charles with parents James and Elizabeth
Maybe he had no idea about his fathers first name or occupation and just said the first thing that came into his head when the clergy asked him
Added fathers occupation on baptism was Bellringer Cathedral

James GREEN and Elizabeth ATTWOOD marriage is on Findmypast, as are the three baptisms.
On the marriage James was a Private in HM 15th Hussars. One of the witnesses was a Charlotte ATTWOOD.
For Sarah Mary's birth in 1853 he was still a Private in HM 15th Hussars.
For Charlotte's birth in 1857 he was a Private in HM 12th Royal Lancers
For Elizabeth Ann's birth in 1861 he was a Private in 17th Lancers, which ties in with the army record that Ladyhawk posted earlier.
