Hi everyone...HNY
Can anyone offer up suggestions?
I am trying to determine the origins of Stephen Richard Charles Thompson, sometimes an additional Christian name of Spencer is recorded as the 4th Christian name. I can track him via Electoral Rolls starting in 1949 (in East Melbourne), through Western Australia from the 1950s to the 1970s, and finally in New South Wales in 1980. I can locate a death entry via the NSW BMD in 1984 for a Stephen Richard Charles Thompson with parents listed as Fredrick & Jessie, but no age for a starting point. He married in 1952 in Western Australia. I cannot locate a burial/cremation location in NSW, his last address I have for him was in Camden NSW. I've tried external to Australia free BMDs with no luck.
I need new eyes.
Any suggestions welcomed.
Many thanks
Stuart McDonald, WA.

What do the marriage & death certificates say?

What do the marriage & death certificates say?
;D
I have sighted neither, only the online indexes.

Well……
I don’t see any other way to find anything. Even if what is on them is fictitious, there are still often clues.
I don’t see a notice of the wedding in Trove. Have you?

There were no locatable marriage or engagement notices that I could locate. Odd that reference to him are so scant. Maybe Thompson was not his birth name, mother remarried, illegit....just changed his name....the options are endless huh?

Any details about his marriage - name of wife etc. Was she with him in the Electoral roll entries?
What is the source of your information?

His wife was Kathleen Mary Teresa Rawlings (b. 1925 WA), daughter of Herbert George Rawlings & Kathleen Mary Ellen West, the source is the WA Online Marriage Index (http://www.wamarriage.info/) for their 1952 marriage, and yes, she was listed at the same address with Stephen Thompson from 1954 to 1980. I can't reference a date of death for her.

No real help, but I notice his death was registered at Picton in 1984 so seems he was in the same area as the Electoral roll address.

Stephen Richard Charles Spencer Thompson - Date of Death
Again, thank you so much, it's the break that's broken the spell, with the date of death you found, I have been able to link it a NSW Find A Grave memorial which includes a WWII Service Record number. He's found. A million thanks.

I think there's more to Stephen Thompson, his enlistment record for WWII (which confirms a death date of 12th December 1983), indicates his was born at Traralgon, VIC.....but can I find him on the Victorian BMD Indexes? No.
But I do appreciate your efforts, I am this far along because of your find! ;D

His WW2 record is available on the National Archives site
https://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/DetailsReports/ItemDetail.aspx?Barcode=4848634&isAv=N
Birth given as 5 April, 1913, Traralgon Victoria.
He enlisted at Nyngan, NSW as a labourer, giving his Next of Kin as his elder brother H Thompson, Seymour St, Traralgon. This is crossed out and replaced with Mrs Macmorrow, Shadforth St, Mosman NSW (friend), apparently added 1945 and it's Shadforth St, Mosman listed as his address on discharge. An entry in 1943 states "Also notify Miss Henry, Shadforth St, Mosman."
He enlisted early in the war, 12/12/39 and was posted missing in Greece, then found as a prisoner of war in Greece, returning to Australia and discharged 'at own request on compassionate grounds' in September 1945.
Edit to add:
WW2 Nominal roll shows his enlistment at Paddington NSW (which seems more likely!)

If an obit could be located, that might yield gold for you, or if he had children, their marriages or obits could be useful too.

The Mrs McMorrow and Miss Henry, I believe, are the same person. Millicent Edith McMorrow is on the 1943 Electoral Roll at Shadforth Street. She had married the previous year, her maiden name was Henry.
I cannot locate death notices for Stephen Thompson, nor his wife.
But I've located and been supplied more than I started with, so I am grateful for everything!
