Title: GRO Birth, Death & Marriage indexes
Post by: klewis on Saturday 03 January 26 08:51 GMT (UK)
I've been testing out the method for working out sub-registration districts for civil registration events detailed here : https://genealogy.stackexchange.com/questions/10355/what-hidden-clues-are-there-in-the-gro-indexes-of-births-and-deaths/10356
However, this method only works for births and deaths, and I'm curious about the ordering of marriage indexes. It's clearly alphabetical by Church of England parish, followed by non-CofE (RC, Non-conformist, Quaker, Jewish & Register Office) marriages. Does anyone know how the non-CofE marriages are ordered?

Is that something other than being able to click on the registration districts on Freebmd results?

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Which takes you to the UKBMD information
E.g.

https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/tonbridge.html

And of course for marriages there is https://www.marriage-locator.co.uk/

Thanks, but I'm interested in the page ordering within a registration district, rather than the registration districts.

The author of the Marriage Locator may have some idea about this.  I once contacted him via the Guild of One-Name Studies about a small error, and he was most helpful, providing additional info I had not asked for.
