Charles George, born Clanfield Oxford 1848 son of John Pavitt Penson and Catherine Samler. Charles came to NZ WHEN? He married Elizabeth Graham but when? On their daughters birth cert Catherine Jane 1877 charles was 29, Elizabeth 23, marriage date 1875, jan29 Dunedin Otago nz .Next found 1895 Marriage Dunedin 3rd dec. Charles George Penson 47 settler bachelor Oxfordshire F. John Penson clergyman, m. Catherine Samler, Elizabeth Graham 39 spinster co meath Ireland. Father John Graham farmer and mother Catherine CLIFTON presence J white solicitor Dunedin & W.A STUART Dunedin.Their first child was born1877.This is all so weird as i cant find that 1875 marriage.I have all the children as its the last one being Joseph Penson born 1893 is the line that I am following Charles george died 13/6/1910 Dunedin and Elizabeth died 30/9/1913. cant find her death cert either. Have grave stone photo cant find where elizabeth came to nz either.I only want NZ info where possible thanksLnr

I am not sure what the question is.
But i agree there is no likely marriage on that date (using the “dot” technique incase there was a transcription error).
The 1895 marriage would seem to be them. they will not be the first, nor the last, to marry well after the births of children. Have you looked for a previous marriage of one or the other incase that is what the hold up was.
Did they manage to keep to the same date on all the birth certs? If so perhaps that was connected with arrival or something. If you are picking a date, you want it to be easy to remember..
Does either death certificate give an indication of time in NZ?
What is the latest census you have found Charles in England?

Their Intention to Marry is dated 3 Dec 1895.
Charles was a bachelor 47 years old and had been in the area for 4 years.
Elizabeth was a spinster aged 39 years and had been in the area for 4 years.
Both resident in South Dunedin and marriage was to take place at the Registrar's Office in Dunedin.

Uk papers don’t name the son either, but Richard was a bank clerk, so am assuming Charles is the naval cadet?.?

FindMyPast has a Charles Geo Penson arriving Sydney, 24 Sep 1886 aboard the Siren.
Their New Zealand Land Records have a Charles George Penson, Settler, at North East Valley, Dunedin, 1882.
