Hi folks,
I suspect that this has been asked (and answered!) before - I did a search but couldn’t find and answer.
I’m going to ask for my wife’s grandad’s RAF records. A copy of the DC is required. In order to help find the DC, the GRO reference is helpful. Now, I’m Scottish and ScotlandsPeople makes this easy; however, wife’s grandad was English and it’s less obvious. I can find his details on FreeBMD.
My question is: how do I get the GRO reference from the FreeBMD details?
David Curtis died at Carlisle in Q2 1967 age 54. He is registered on P69 of Vol 1a - see screenshot.
Is that 1a / 69?
Thanks in advance,
Roxy

That is all the information you need.
Go to
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp
You will need to register with an email address.
Then navigate to the "Place an Order" page
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/app_select.asp
Choose the options that apply. You will reach the page where you are asked if you know the GRO reference. In this case you do.
Once you select that option you get to a page that will look like the attached.
Complete it and then complete your purchase.
Wait for it to arrive in the post.
Hope that helps.
