Firstly let me wish everyone a merry Christmas and thank everyone over the years that has helped me in my search
I am looking for a Birth location and maiden name for a Laura Collinson
In 1939 she is married and living at 18 Louden Street Derby. Her birth date is 23 December 1901, At the same address are John Hodgkiss (b cir 1871) and Matthew Collinson (b cir 1896).

Can only say a big thank you to you and everyone who contributed

Found her in 1911 transcribed as Togir on Ancestry.
Shown as the niece of James Putt aged 49 - piece 12835

I was doubting Ada Selena because there is another Ada Tozer.
However, Ada Selina was Hingston according to a tree and James Putt’s wife, Mary Elizabeth was Hingston too.
Bearing in mind the information comes from a published tree, there may be some doubt but it does look good so far. Well done, Carole.

Looking at the records, I think Ada had a hard life.
There are deaths in 1898 for Francis Tozer, 72 yrs and a birth and death for baby Francis Albany H Tozer, 0 yrs.
-
Looks like Laura and Ernest Smallbone had a daughter, Ada, birth and death registered in Newton Abbott district June Q 1920 Mmn Tozer.
It's possible that Ernest is Ernest Inkerman Smallbone born in Guildford in 1886 - records vary as to the exact year given. He was a stoker in the Royal Navy. In 1921, he and Laura are recorded in separate places, both shown as married.
If so, he had two children with Agnes Westwater, born in 1922 and 1923. I don't find a marriage for them either in England and Wales, or in Scotland, where she was born.
I can't find Ernest in 1939, although Agnes (shown as married) is with one of the children in Portsmouth.
Ernest Inkerman Smallbone died in Portsmouth 4 July 1965 (National Probate Calendar)
