Just back from a break so I have not looked at my match list for about a week. Am I correct in thinking Anc have recently changed shared match lists to include shared matches below 20cM? Is this a new development that is being rolled out or is everyone now seeing shared matches below the previous 20cM cut-off?
-
I've got matches as low as eight. It's increased my total number to over 22,000.
I rarely look beyond the first 100.

I'm also getting the 8-19cM shared matches without having ProTools. This previously required a ProTools subscription. It seems odd that Ancestry are not making us pay for this. Christmas spirit?

I think matches have gone down to 8cM for a long time but shared matches had a 20cM cut-off. I now have shared matches well below the previous cut-off and I am wondering if this is a new development that is being rolled out or can everyone see shared matches below 20cM.

I don't have ProTools either. Weird that Anc have not said anything about this. If this is permanent then it might be significant in identifying some of my unknowns.

I wouldn't be too surprised if it was a foul up at their end and see it vanish before long.
-
Make the most of it, it is Ancestry after all.

I missed the 'shared' bit! Yes, I can see sub-20cM shared matches.

It didn't last long! Gone this morning.

That's a shame, I made good use of it while it lasted!
Is anybody else having a problem looking at Common Ancestors? I cannot get past the first page.

The 20cM shared match threshold hides so much it can really stop research stone dead.
I have a mystery 42cM match, he shares 604cM with 'SC' so I see them as shared matches on my account but I only share 15 with SC so the mystery match uses his account but doesn't see the connection. He also misses other matches to SC because of the 20cM threshold.
Thankfully we shared our dna results and I've been able to identify 7 mutual matches so far that the 20cM threshold manage to hide even when analysing match lists of each person individually. The papertrail of my mystery match doesn't line up with the DNA and I suspect an NPE somewhere. All 7 matches trace back to the same common ancestor which seems to confirm my suspicions but had we not shared our results my mystery match would still be in the dark.

I think that Ancestry has updated their system a bit.
If I have a Thruline or Common Ancestor that has a suggested pathway that does not compute I add the related DNA Match to a Mystery Group and add text “Odd Thruline” to the Matches Note.
Since your post I have revisited three such Matches and each now has a Thruline that is now valid.

Yes, I am now getting all the Common Ancestors again and a few new ones.

It has happened again. Anc is showing shared matches below 20cM. Make the most of it while it lasts!

Not there for me!!! Ah well......

Still there for me this morning. Didn't last this long last time. Anyone else got them?

I still subscribe to Pro Tools which has come in handy.
Currently hoping the post Christmas present rush to submit and analyse the supplied samples will yield some useful new “DNA Cousins”.

I reckon I've never been able to see Shared Matches < 20 cM and I certainly havent been able to see them this week. And I've had Pro Tools for ever too!! Ancestry seems to be a very inequitable company at times!!! ???

With Pro Tools you should see shared matches below 20cM.
-
Biggles - am I correct in thinking you will only see shared matches below 20cM with Pro Tools if the total match of both you and your match is 20cM and above?
BTW I am still seeing matches below 20cM this morning. I don't have Pro Tools. It did not last this long last time.

Ahhhh, I think I know where I am getting confused!! Under Shared Matches, MY Matches go down to < 20 cM but the SHARED Matches stop at 20 cM

Just to clarify. The match list goes down to 8cM but usually the shared match list cuts off at 20cM. However today I can see shared matches below 20cM. I think this is an error on Anc part. Last time it happened they "fixed" it pretty quickly. This time they are taking longer. I assume it is not impacting everyone from your comments.

Thanks. Perfectly clear now

I'm getting the low common matches too . As others have pointed out it has happened before (briefly) for me too. I'm making the most of it while it lasts.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is some sort of test to see whether it hammers their servers too much. Hence they have rolled it out to a restricted number to assess the impact.

Unless they're tempting us to pay for Protools when this enhanced access to matches ends.
I have subscribed to PT for a month on a couple of occasions. I wonder whether those who also have this enhanced access have done so as well, and those who haven't got it, have never suscribed to PT

I've never subscribed to Pro Tools. I am meaning to do so in the future for a month but don't have enough time at the moment.

Bang goes my theory then :D

I've been a long standing Protools subscriber but earlier this week had a 'welcome to protools' page pop up inviting me to try the features I'd been using just an hour before. It seemed to coincide with the latest deal on DNA kits and whilst I could see my match list and tree I kept being asked to login.
