Hi everyone i have been working on my family history for just over a year now and i have hit a dead end with my Ellwood line. I got to Mark Ellwood born in 1764 in Dufton Westmoorland, we think he was a butcher and that he married as far as we know he married Elisabeth Hodgson, who was born in 1759 and they had a son Henry Ellwood (1795). Marks father was also called Mark and his mother was Anne Loadman. I would love to know anything interstiing about the Ellwood family from that area around that time or follow my ancestry further back. If you need any further information please just ask, but i am relatively new to roots chat. Any help or information would be gretly apreciated

I suppose you have already seen the Family Tree on Ancestry (although it may be your own).
That goes further back to the 1600's.

If it's not yours you may want to contact the tree owner.

Hi ColC,
Thanks for that. Didn't know that their marriage was in Freereg.
You have to be careful as in this period there were other Marks in the area:
Mark Ellwood marr Elizabeth Egleston 1776 in Morland. Children: Mary b 1776 Morland, William b1778 Long Marton, Mark b 1786 Kirkby Stephen & William b 1787 (possibly). This Mark was the son of William and Mary Hall.
Best regards
Gigi

Hi
The Thomas was most likely Mark's elder brother who lived at Sandriggs in Dufton. Thomas died in 1775 in Dufton.
