Hi all
Are there any records of families moved on through the clearances, tennant records or crofters that married local.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction please.

There's no sort of comprehensive list, no. Was there any particular location you were looking to find out about?

Rogart was one area have some info from there...( apparently fire desteoyed a lot of paperwork in 1790s to 1800s)
And Shiness 1750s its not a town or village so wasnt sure how a recorded birth could take place there unless has a church maybe.

It's in the parish of Lairg so any records would be in the surviving registers of Lairg, which can be consulted at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. However according to the New Statistical Account https://stataccscot.ed.ac.uk/static/statacc/dist/parish/Sutherland/Lairg the earliest entry in the parochial register of Lairg is in 1768.
Rogart is a separate parish. See https://stataccscot.ed.ac.uk/static/statacc/dist/parish/Sutherland/Rogart but again the earliest surviving records are from 1768 - see http://www.rootschat.com/links/01u4s/ for details.

Thanks for your reply Rogart i have a stop as you say records do not go any further back so quite lucky to get to 1789 last ancestor birth ( cant go any further here)
For shiness ime looking for Donald McDonald married Catherine North abt 1779 donald born shiness one site just says abt 1779 again. When moved from the area they went to rogart then cleared again and went to cromarty n ross Dingwall moved on to coupar and kettins from there ended up in Dundee ( assumption highland clearances and chasing the work to Dundee)...sad story...
Would love to go further back awaiting ancestory DNA to add to the story but i like the names bdm,s and official documents :)

Surely he can't have been born in 1779 if he got married in 1779?
And don't believe 'one site' or 'some site' or even 'several sites'. Always check the original documents at Scotland's People, which is the only source of the originals of most surviving Scottish records.

Do you have copies of any of the original documents, birth/ marriage certs etc?
North doesn't appear to be a very common surname around that time and place
