Title: Marriage certificate information
Post by: Nicky on Thursday 11 December 25 15:17 GMT (UK)
I am looking for the marriage information of James Nutter and Honoria Lavin, they married in Bradford in 1923. Is there any way of finding the full information off the certificate without going to Bradford or ordering?
I am local so could get into Bradford. Where would I need to go?

Any help would be great.
Many thanks

Church or civil ceremony?   You need to know which church to enable a look up at the RO but if it was in a registry office you would have to buy the cert

If you are looking for parentage - both are on the 1939 register with full birthdates.  Honoria  is on the 1921 census with parents

I suspect James's  birthyear should be 1904 given his birthdate was given as 31.3.1904 when he died in 1972 in which case there is a baptism on Ancestry

There are many Church Registers for West Yorkshire on Ancestry - going up to the mid 1900s.

If they married in a Church included amongst those, you would be able to see a Parish Record copy of the marriage certificate. However if they married in a Register Office, or a Registrar attended at a Non-Conformist Church - you won't find them there.

I have had a look and can't see them (someone else might do - I can be a bit of a dope sometimes!)

Unfortunately, as Carole has said, you will need to go to the Registry Office to see a copy - at a fee of course.

Thank you for the replies. I'll see if I can find out where they married

I'm looking for confirmation of Andrews father. Pretty sure I've found his birth details but want to confirm his father's name

If looking for the father of James:-

James Nutter, son of Joseph, married Hannah Mary Nattress on 7th December 1889 at Bradford, St Peter (Bradford Cathedral).

He was baptised at the Idle Primitive Methodist Chapel on 31st July 1870, son of Joseph Nutter and Mary Kitchen.

Several trees on Ancestry.
