Hello,
I'm trying to track down a non-direct ancestor Julia Gall (nee Garth) who may have been a patient at the Vermont Insane Asylum (now the Brattleboro Retreat). I've found a death record for a Julia G Gall in 1868 in Brattleboro, VT. I'm thinking she may have been at the Vermont Insane Asylum due to references of mentally unwell in other records. I'm wondering if anyone would know where the historical records for the Vermont Insane Asylum would be kept.
Thanks for any help!

No such thing as a 'non-direct ancestor' but perhaps you mean Judith was a distant connection to your family.
Had a look at patient records here but she's not listed-

From what I gather you'll need to contact Brattleboro Retreat directly. Googling "Vermont Insane Asylum records" brings up lots of information.
