I've been researching my grandfather's Royal Marine Light Infantry records at the end of WW1. He had joined in 1908 and his two younger brothers by 1911 and served throughout the war. My grandfather stayed in until 1932 but his brothers were discharged in 1919/20. Both had Industrial Group written at the top of their record along with the number 40 or 41. I'm trying to understand what this referred to. Some low leve1 searching suggests this might be related to trades/skills that were needed post-war. Both brothers ended up in the fire brigade post-war.
If anyone knows what this refers to that would be great to know!

Thanks for that mmm45. I'm not sure what I was expecting - public administration sounds a bit clerical to me in this day and age. What might it have meant back then I wonder?
