Can someone translate this ?  Is it a poem or a verse about the sea shore / heaven.

66 years old
At his graveside how heavy is my lament
For one who was a tender father and spouse
We trust  that the joy of heaven
Will forever be part of his soul.

Also JANE EVANS widow of the above
who died Dec 12  [1929?] aged 83

Blessed are they who die in faith

It loses a bit in translation

If [1929?] is actually 1928, there is a matching death in Wales in FreeBMD:

Deaths Dec 1928
Evans    Jane    66    Aberystwith  11b  55

And if it is
Could this be his death?

Modified to add…previous occupation matches 1901 census (carpenter). Shame they weren’t living at the same address!

Recorded GRO as age 56.  Easy transcription mistake by coroner or registrar from coroners notes

EVANS, RICHARD       56

Yes i think that must be him.  Thank you so much

I bought the 56 yr old death cert last but ruled it out due to the occupation being platelayer not carpenter.  I think it must be him now.  D.o.b fits stone too.

Annie mary evans death certs confirms its them and that her father was a carpenter.   Thanks for that inquest report.
