I'm trying to track down the siblings of my grandfather to try to get a better understanding of his wider family. Reginald John Pope was born in 1894 East Stonehouse. I have him in the 1901 census, he joined the Royal Marines in 1908 and was aboard HMS Monmouth in 1911. He got married in 1916 (I'm struggling for some of the details on the wedding at St Thomas's, Coventry according to the RM families book and have the certificate on order) but why he married in Coventry is a mystery... There is no sign of him in 1921 but I know that there were 2 children born in the London area in 1921 and 1924. Harriet then died in 1928 and Reginald later remarried.
I know the family stayed around the London area and have a few stories from my father who used to go and visit.
Thanks in advance for any clues.

On one site, he is recorded as Reginald John Isaacs.
The householder is Sydney Arthur Isaacs so that seems to be where the error in transcription has occurred.
There are some trees which show Harriet as born 1880 in Norfolk.
This seems to be wrong.
There is a Harriet Dewing 1895 in Devonport, 1901, with parents Charles and Harriet.

In the 1921 entry found by heywood there is also a visitor in the household aged 11 with a surname very similar to Harriet Pope's maiden name.
-
I think that person was Harriet’s sister.

Thank you so much for the information unearthed today. I had a feeling that the Harriet in other trees was not quite right so this is really good to find one with a Plymouth connection and a father in the Royal Marines.
I don't know why they were married in Coventry. I did find a marriage license for them that suggested Harriet was of the parish...
Plenty to look into. It's great to clear up the mystery of the Norfolk Harriet.

Lnc Corpl in the R M L I - is this the Royal Marine Light Infantry? Could he have been stationed there around the time of their marriage?

Thanks for that Lady Hawk.
That is indeed the license that I came across - there must have been a reason for her to have ended up in Coventry. I've not found time yet to look at her other details yet but plenty to go on.
