Outside Man
Looking at various newspaper items that use the term 'outside man' I have gained the impression that in the most general terms it described someone working outside the premises of a business to advertise or sell.
In the context of the film industry I think this would be a travelling salesman acting for a film distribution company and liaising with independent cinemas. For example in the England and Wales census 1921 there is a Knud Jensen living in Beckenham and employed by the "Butcher's Film Service Ltd, cinematograph Film Renters" whose occupation is 'film renter'. I suspect that he was an outside man.
In 1921 there is a Harry Morris, a boarder at 9 Cathkin Road, Cathcart, Glasgow. His age is 35.8 and he is a widower. His employer is Stoll Film Co. Ltd., London. His occupation is 'Traveller'. This must be your ancestor even though his place of birth is recorded as "Lanark Glasgow".

With the Renters
Mr. R. Speed has relinquished his position with the Stoll Film Company.
Mr. Harry Morris, the popular outside representative for Famous-Lasky in South Wales, is holidaying in Paris.
Looking fit and well, Mr. A. M. Bass, Ideal's manager in South Wales, has returned from his holidays.
