Title: Hartigan Family. Croom, Glin and later Battersea area (London)
Post by: Mick_B on Friday 14 November 25 17:32 GMT (UK)
Am trying to find my mothers ancestors and build our family tree. Am hoping someone may be able to provide some guidance or information

She was born Johanna Hartigan to Bridget (nee Cle(a)ry) & John Hartigan in Croom on 1st August 1931.

All I currently know is that she had several brothers and sisters, one of whom died at 21 in Glin.

Any information or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to RootsChat!

As your mother was born after 1924, her birth certificate will not be available to view on irishgenealogy.ie.

I can see that a John Hartigan of Ballyguiltenane married Bridget Cleary on 12th February 1918 in Glin, Limerick:

Children born to this couple up to 1924 include:
- Daniel (1919)
- Richard (1920)
- Mary (1921)
- Patrick (1924)

Thank you all so much for your warm welcome.

Also for the information, all we ever got from our mother was that it was “Bally” something. She left home and came over to England sometime in the early 1950’s, reason for this is another of those topics that was never discussed.

Thanks again, happy that I now have a better start point.
