Since living persons not permitted how do I search for a person's birth and marriage?

Use freebmd.

Newspapers articles for births, weddings and funerals.

Ask relatives what they remember.

Electoral Rolls for addresses.

Thank you. freebmd returns nil.Electoral roll won't divulge data due to GDPR, and can only search by street name. It would take hours to search any particular newspaper week by week, and not all deaths are notified to papers. Don't know of any relatives.
I have set myself a hopeless task.

If you belong to Ancestry - just do a general search for a person with that name, approx birth year and county.

Your local library will have a subscription to ancestry and Find My Past.

FindMyPast has newspapers, put in the name you are searching and a place. You can then narrow down by year.
