Hi
Ive only just joined so no idea how this works really.
I found out recently that my mum gave birth to a boy in the quarry maternity hospital in lincoln in 1968,
She had to give the baby up for adoption. I was never told about the baby . I was born in 71
I realise I have very little information but can anyone help with advice , I really have no idea where to start . Thanks

Hi, welcome to RootsChat :)
RootsChat is meant for finding ancestors, so personal details of any people known or thought to be living will be removed, in accordance with RootsChat policy, to avoid spamming and other abuses. So since your biological brother may still be living, people here may be able to give you general tips and hints how to search for adoptees born/adopted out in that area.
If you are able to obtain a name, these tips may be helpful.

Welcome to Rootschat
As you know the year & location & also your mothers maiden name - you can use the Online GRO register facilities to find the name the child was registered as. However - that christian name may have changed after the adoption
DNA is probably your better way forward

Buy both an Ancestry and a My Heritage DNA test.
I do hope your Mum is still with you, supporting your actions and willing to take the DNA tests herself.
If not then do take the tests yourself.
Do this ASAP and buy the time you get the tests, and submit the samples it will be about 8 weeks before you get the results.
In that time you can start to build a family tree.
If you download and read the attached file it will give you some useful direction.

There is long (and long-lived) topic about the Quarry on the Lincs board.
You may find it helpful. There are several mentions of 1968.

Try https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
You may find the surname you are looking for with mothers maiden name the same in the right area and time frame.
Of course the surname would hange on adoption and probably the christian name.

Hi
Thank you so much for the tips n advice given so far.
I don’t know the name of my brother. I have done a search with my mums details n nothing came up.
I’m going to do the ancestry dna . I have done a family tree on there before I found out the info.
Thanks again for your help. Advice still welcome.
