Hello
I am trying to find the marriage of James Williams (born around 1819 in Lambeth), coal porter, and Elizabeth Bush (born around 1827 in Lambeth). Their first child was George, born in 1845 in Lambeth. Elizabeth's maiden name comes from the children's birth registrations - it is possible that she married using a different name, although she'd only have been about 18 when George was born, so there's not much scope for a previous marriage.
Any ideas or pointers would be brilliant. I'm starting to doubt they ever married. Based on DNA matches with descendants of this couple, I believe James was likely the brother of my ancestor John Williams, and I'd like to confirm what details are given for James' father on his marriage certificate - hence the great interest in finding it.
Thank you!

Are you seeing this family in the 1861 and 1871 Census?
Can you identify the family that you see in the 1861 Census.
Can you identify the family that you see in the 1871 Census.
......names of children....addresses....occupations etc ....for these two Census records.

I know it’s a pain but could you post some known deatails of your direct line John
Thanks

I note that her name is Eliza not Elizabeth on the census you have posted. There is an Eliza Bush in Lambeth in 1841 in the household of Jonathan Warren

Thanks for johns details. Working on what you have posted we seem to be looking for common parents of
1 John born c 1812 place Battersea
2 James born c1819-25 place Lambeth according to census
3 Thomas born c1814 place Lambeth
If they are related.

Indeed - and there's a sister, too: Sarah Williams born c1811 in Battersea, who married Charles Mayze. Plenty of DNA matches with their descendants.
I am quite confident that Sarah, John, Thomas, and James are the paternal first cousins of Thomas (b 1813 Mortlake) and Charles (b 1824 Mortlake) Williams, who both migrated to the USA and have dozens of descendants who are triangulated DNA matches with our Williams families. Thomas and Charles' father was George, a potter born around 1778.
I just need to confirm "my" John's father's name (via James' marriage certificate, ideally!) so I can confidently move back a generation, which would bring me to George's brother. I do have a couple - John Williams & Sarah Webb - who I hypothesise may be the parents. This John's signature appears to be the same as the witness on George Williams' marriage record.
Thank you again for your interest!

Thank you. That does look likely to be her.

Possible baptism for Sarah Williams on 22 Dec 1810, Saint Mary At Lambeth d/o William and Sarah

Some more that might be related
6th March 1813, baptisms of Thomas and William sons of William and Elizabeth of Mason Street, he is a labourer. It doesn't say they're twins. In most cases where I have seen "batch" baptisms of siblings they are usually listed in age order with oldest first.
