Jane Johnston, nee Henry, died Feb 8, 1930, in Clinton, Massachusetts. She was the widow of Whaley Johnston, whom I believe died Sept 1, 1879 in Ireland. She emigrated in 1895 to Massachusetts. I know that she is a relative of mine. Perhaps an obit or death certificate would help.
thanks

Thanks KG. After her husband’s death, in 1895, Jane emigrated to Clinton, Massachusetts where several of her children lived. In 1920, she is living with her daughter Margaret Ann Shuter, wife of Robert Shuter.

I don't see an obituary for her in the index at newspapers.com. I don't have a subscription.
The Fitchburg papers are showing up in the index, but not the (city of) Worcester's papers. Clinton is halfway between the two, so there might be an obituary in a Worcester paper.
You know the exact date - does that mean you have seen her death record?

The Worcester Telegram (Worcester, Massachusetts) Newspaper Archives (1886 - 1989) is at genealogybank.com. I think someone that replies frequently on this forum has found articles there, so maybe they will be along. It wouldn't even let me see indexed results without setting up an account.
On the other hand, I think familysearch indexes the obits from genealogybank, and I don't see one for her in their results.

Hopefully, an obit will turn up. I have not seen a death record but have seen that date of death on Clinton records, widow of Whaley Johnston.

Massachusetts used to release their death records 100 years after the death, but in groups of 5 years at a time. Meaning Jane's won't be available online anywhere until 2030.
They might have changed that, I think they tightened some restrictions on VRs a few years ago.
You can order a record for $3 US from the archives. Not much help if you live outside the US, but you might email them and see if there is a way you can order it.

Margaret Ann Johnston, daughter of Jane Johnston, nee Henry, married Robert Shuter abt 1900 in Clinton where she died in 1959 as per findagrave. Her husband Robert died in 1935 as per findagrave.
I would like to know the exact date of death of Margaret Ann via an obituary, to learn if her brother Robert Whaley Johnston is still alive and where he might be. Thanks for any help. Peggy

Margaret's date of death was 5 Oct. 1959. Obituary mentions her late husband only. https://www.digitalcommonwealth.org/book_viewer/commonwealth:90200087c#?xywh=9452%2C3010%2C2737%2C1125&cv=1

Fantastic. thank you, shellyesq. As for the death of her brother Robert Whaley, I suspect that he died in 1961 in Clinton as William R. The reason that I say that is that in 1910, he is on the census in Clinton as brother-in-law William R. to Robert Shuter. At first, I thought it was just a typo but there is a William R. on findagrave who was born in Ireland in 1875 and died in 1961 in Clinton. Thinking it is Robert Whaley.

Shellyesq, would you be able to find the exact date of death of Robert Shuter in 1935? Perhaps an obituary would mention William R. Or Robert Whaley as a brother-in-law.
Thank you
Peggy
