Could I ask for a translation of what is showing in the margin of the attached birth certificate. Am I right in thinking Emilias Alphonsus Legrand was born Illigitamate.

Yes, you're right. Emilius Alphonsus was born to the unmarried Florentia in 1872. She married Henricus in 1881. At that time Emilius became 'legitimate'.

Hi Zefiro. Many thanks for translation. Just found another illegitimate son for Florentia…Prosper” Emilius Legrand 13 Oct 1869, Ieper and looks like the same wording in the margin.
Edit….looks like another one Alixia Maria Legrand 7 Aug 1878.
