Hi all . I have hit a brick wall reg my 1st Cousin 1 x rem Barbara Parry born 1938 in Birkenhead Cheshire .. I would like to see if she had any family herself?. Hve looked on the Ancestry site , to no avail . Barbara's father was Charles Parry born 1909 in Seacombe cheshire . There may be a story behind my Cousin , who knows. I appreciate any support here and thank you .

Are you sure she has passed away? Rootschat has a "no living person" policy
Having said that, there is someone who might fit showing on the 1939 register.
-
From the 1939 register it would appear that she is now deceased but that she had an additional surname.

People who show on 1939 reg are not necessarily deceased. I found a very much alive acquaintance of mine showing a few weeks ago.

Oops, sorry!
-
thank you all for the updates . As far as Barbara's Death , I cannot see a record for this on Ancestry as i am not subscribed . I can only view so much.. if anyone knows of the additional surname , I would be grateful for this . Thank you .

have looked on the GRO website?
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/login.asp
You have to register - but that is free, and searches are also free.
There is only a charge if you want to order a certificate

thanks Lizzie , but i do not think there are any "gems" to find for Barbara , so i will leave it as it is . best wishes .

Her middle name was Croasdale and there was a Barbara Croasdale who died in 2014. Although her surname was Stratford, her birth is given as 1938.
If the same person, she must have remarried, but I can't find a record under the new surname given in 1939. There was a Barbara Croasdale Parry who married in Chester in 1973.

I have female rellies who married twice and second surname not on the 1939, so don't discount it yet.
-
It looks as though the new surname was crossed through on 1939 register and Parry reinstated.
-
Her birth was registered March qtr 1939 so presumably born end of 1938 - mmn Dixon
Marriages in 1959 & 1973 Birkenhead. See www.cheshirebmd.org.uk for husbands details in case either is still alive
-
Sorry but Barbara did not have the middle name Croasdale , but Carole has the correct info , in that Barbara's Mother was an Amy Dixon . I will have to check out any Marriages so thanks for that . So watch this space . Thank you everyone for your support here .
-
What was her middle name? The 1939 one Barbara C.
The birth registration on Cheshire BMD is for Barbara Croasdale with mother Dixon.
-
Yes she did have the middle name Croasdale. Look at births for 1938 on the above website in reply 11
-
Thanks all . The plot thickens! I will look into this Croasdale name , it is a strange one . I will try and find the Marriages .. and take it from there .

If you have access to electoral rolls, her last address in Chester can be found. I found on FindMyPast.
-
I don't see that she had any children with either husband.
Next puzzle: where did the name Croasdale come from? Not common, but a lot come up on FreeBMD

There are trees on Ancestry which have Amy F Dixon, wife of Charles Parry, daughter of Thomas Dixon and Amy F Laycock.
Thomas Dixon was the son of Thomas Dixon (1860-1898) and Alice Croasdale (1854-1910)
Alice, a widow, at 32, Eden Street, Toxteth Park, Lancashire, in 1901.

See replies 11 & 14 www.cheshirebmd.org.uk have her as Barbara Croasdale Parry on both the 1959 & 1973 marriage entries in my earlier reply. Her birth reg on the same site also shows that middle name
As she appears to have married again as Parry in 1873 she possibly divorced & reverted to her maiden name
-
Both her marriages are known - so freebmd or the GRO index can be used to look for children from the 1959 marriage but nothing found so far.
By 1973 she was only 35 but again no obvious births
Would suggest you buy a copy of her will as suggested in the reply 16. It will only cost you £1.50 at the moment but the cost is rocketing to £16 from 17/11 so do it quickly
-
Thanks DCB , so that's where the name Croasdale originates! It is a pity that the lineage stops here , but at least I have something to add onto my f tree . Many thanks to you all for helping to get me this far and best wishes .

It does go back a bit further, if correct.
Alice Croasdale was the daughter of John Croasdale, 1800-1856 in Liverpool, and Margaret Williams, 1817-1884 in Liverpool.
Then William Croasdale, b 1772, no wife listed, and Edward Williams and Elizabeth Hughes, but no details.
There is a William Croasdale baptised on 20th January 1771, in Tatham Fell, diocese of Blackburn, son of William of Ballshaw.
I think Barbara's husband was born in 1943, so possibly still living.
