Hi Milliepede I was looking at the following

Gladys Muriel Wood 17 is a pupil in Bangor Wales 1911, in Hertfordshire 1921 she died 1956 Northampton  Probate to sister Gloria Christabel Wood Paranagua

Gloria Wood 13 is a pupil in Yorkshire 1911, still in Yorkshire 1921. There is  a 1947 passenger list for Gloria Paranagua leaving Southampton

I can't see anything obvious for their parents deaths between 1901 - 1911  :-\ apart from a death Dec 1911 Chorlton for a Guy Wood age 57 born c1854

Thanks to DNA tests we have found quite a few “disappearances” were due to emigration to USA, Canada & Australia that have not necessarily shown up in the Passenger Records.

We have been able to trace “DNA Cousins” back to the “disappeared” person.

there are several records of Mr G H Wood & wife travelling across the Atlantic in first class, but one of them shows him as George Herbert, a bond dealer. So this family in 1911 with daughter b. 1900

Thanks to everyone for their replies on the parents  of  Gladys & Gloria Wood,I think I will have to get the marriage cert for Gloria in 1936  to Octavio Paranagua  hopefully that might shed a bit of light on the elusive parents
Do you have to pay full price for the marriage cert or can you get a pdf scan of it?
Thanks  again to everyone trying to solve this'

I found this sad report about her death. It says she has lost 2 husbands but her Probate notice say that she is the wife of William Langworthy BAKER.

Haven't spotted another marriage for him.

So, what happened to Guy Herbert between the 1901 census & Ethel Muriel's second marriage?

I can't find him anywhere.
It would be interesting to see Ethel's second marriage certificate to see if she describes herself as a widow, that info. might not be true but it might be ::)

there should be another marriage for William L Baker. Spotted him in 1921 with wife Ettie Mary and a stepson with surname Angell living in Treherbert, Rhondda. Not finding a marriage.

I don't think William Langworthy BAKER ever married Ettie May, her probate entries show her as ANGELL, BAKER and LANGWORTHY BAKER,

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/search-results

page 1 and 2.

Marriage
Ettie May BYFORD    Dec Q 1906    Edmonton    3a  878
Ernest George ANGELL

I mention this becaause I found this newspaper notice,

William's death was registered in Bangor, Caernarvonshire as was Ettie's in 1949. Her probate shows she was living in Bethesda.
