Title: 3 Census locations IDs
Post by: Lensmeister on Sunday 02 November 25 10:06 GMT (UK)
Morning all,

I have three census returns for the wife's Morrison Family. I'm trying to decipher the handwriting for the places of birth.

1851 census (1st reply)
I think the locations are:
Argyll - Kilmichael
Argyll - Islay

1861 census (2nd reply)
Kilmichell Glarrery
Port Charlotte Kil?

1871 census (3rd reply)
Islay - Kilmanparch

Genuki is useful here to check out parish names, e.g. Argyll

https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/ARL/Parishes

Also any map site will probably help check any possible interpretations

1851 is
Argyll Kilmichael (also known as Kilmichael Glassary)  https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/ARL/Glassary
Argyll Islay

1861 is
Kilmichael Glassary
Port Charlotte Kilchoman

1871
could possibly be Kilmeny parish (on Islay)  https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/ARL/Kilmeny

Thanks Nell.

That'll all help searching for the births/baptisms etc.
