Researching my family history in Macclesfield, Cheshire. I've come across names of old streets that no longer exist. Any ideas on where to find this information? All help appreciated, thanks in advance.

The NLS go back the 1840s. What exactly are you looking for?

To get you started at NLS as suggested by Ray T, here is the 1870 large scale Town Plan of Macclesfield overlaid on a modern street map (slide the slider to reveal this). I’ve centred it on the area where the Duke Street car park is now.
Of course this map may be too recent to catch the streets that you are interested in.

Many thanks for all these suggestions. I have been lucky to find a YouTube post from someone who's grandmother lived in Spitalfields in Macclesfield. She located it off Roe Street near the junction with Mill Street. The houses on Spitalfields has been pulled down now and replaced by a car park and supermarkets. I imagine that the house on Spitalfields, where my great, great grandfather lived wih his second wife, was similar to the terraced houses on the south side of Roe Street near the junction with Duke Street. That's a very poitnant image.

My thanks to the The RootsChat.Com Team for the link to this old town map. My great great grandfather moved into 7 Spitalfields with his second wife after their marriage in 1868. They both appear in the censuses of 1871 and 1881. They were both silk weavers. His wife died in 1889 and he moved in with his son, my great grandfather. The 1891 census shows my great great grandfather, my great grandfather and my grandfather (age 3) all living in the same house. One of my grandfather's older brothers was killed in the First World War and his name, J Widdows, appears on the Macclesfield Cenotaph. Locating Spitalfields has completed the map of my direct ancestors going back to the first census in 1841. I am grateful for everyone's help at Roots Chat. Thank you.
