Title: Charles Rolfe Mammen 1939 census, Brighton.
Post by: Higpoidius on Thursday 23 October 25 14:21 BST (UK)
Can anyone help with the following -

The entry for Charles Rolfe Mammen (40) living in Argyll Street, Brighton in 1939 says-
domestic duties - MENTAY - in care of Guardianship Society (see attachment)

He was born in London in 1899. Trying to work out what MENTAY refers to, and what the Guardianship Society was. The only information I could find was related to the Kinder Transport from Germany, but as he is 40 years old, that doesn't make much sense.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Sorry, not domestic duties but housework.

The enumerator does an upward stroke on a "p", so I think what looks like the tail of the y, is actually from the p in the line below. Leaving the word as Mental.
