Looks to have been born in Cornwall, possibly St. Agnes.
I am trying to find his connection with other lines of the Tonkin family (mine) in Cornwall.
No luck in finding who were his parents, how many siblings. His life in the U.S. is fairly well documented. Married Sarah Williams, had several children.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did he marry Sarah in the US or England?

On the 1900 Census Stephen Tonkin's household is followed by Benjamin Tonkin, born 26 Nov 1873, England. Wondered if there was a link.
Possibility?
Birth Registration - Benjamin Tonkin, Dec Qtr 1872, Truro**, 5c 155 - mother's maiden name Ellery
Cornwall OPC baptism - St Agnes, Wesleyan Methodist, Benjamin Frederick Tonkin, father John, mother Elizabeth, residence Perranwell, born 9 Nov 1872, bap 26 Feb 1873
** Truro registration district includes St. Agnes
Added - the 1910/1920 Censuses not helping to support this possibility.

Hello and thanks, hanus teulu,
There may well be a connection. Will follow up and see what I can find.
Benjamin is a Tonkin name which recurs, so maybe.
-
I think Benjamin Frederick is still in Cornwall 1901 -

Yes, Benjamin J. Tonkin (1873-1941) is the son of Stephen P. and Sarah. Born in U.S.
The Benj. born in England 1873 may well be related, but not Stephen's son or brother.
Benjamin F. is another story (?). As indicated, it's a common enough Tonkin name, Benjamin, which doesn't always help.
Thanks for your help, hanus and trish
*Btw ... I know I'm connected to Stephen Paul Tonkin because of DNA matches with descendants of his. Finding the link i proving elusive.
