Title: Portsmouth Records Office
Post by: Teresa in Wirral on Saturday 11 October 25 06:22 BST (UK)
Would anyone be able to see if there is a baptism entry for me in the
St Barnabas Mission records. I have the date of birth but want to know if there is a baptism record as well.

Thank you

Baptisms could take place a long time after a birth. What was the date of birth?

Are you looking for the parents names?

Hi, thank you for the reply. It's for a living person ( my father). I found his mothers baptism on Find My Past, but they don't have the year I want, but it is available at Portsmouth Records Office. I got an automated reply that it may take up to 10 weeks for them to reply to my email for a search.

Have you established whether the document would have to be ordered before a visit and whether it would be available as the person concerned is still living

I spoke to the Portsmouth History Centre to ask whether the Baptism records (1896 to 1941) would need to be ordered.
And was told St Barnabas Mission  would be on microfiche.

Would anyone be able to look at the last quarter of 1938. Probably mid November.

I would have to PM the name etc as the person is living.

Thank you

Is this when your father was born? Whilst some baptisms could take place shortly after a birth - others could be several months later (assuming there definitely was a baptism).
