Title: Gregerson
Post by: louisa maud on Monday 06 October 25 16:52 BST (UK)
I have been searching high and low for the following,  have got marriage and birth regs for both of them and all census Inc 1939 register.

Neil's Gregerson  born 1910
His wife
Beatrice L Gregerson 1909

Beatrice was actually registered as Matilda Beatrice L Swan,  married as Swann
I know  Neils was in the Dover Road area about 1972,  I think he ran a shop.  I cannot find a death for either of them,  I assume they would be in the Dover Folkstone area, any help much appreciated

Thank you in anticipation

Louisa Maud

There are Beatrice L Gregerson and Niels Gregerson on the 1951 Electoral Register for Uxbridge North. They are at 40 Woodcroft Crescent. Also registered at the same address are James M and Matilda F Swan. I believe that the Swans are Beatrice Gregerson's parents?

Yes  that is her parents.
That is interesting  as by 1972 Neil's is in Dover Road, found in a newspaper cutting
Thank you, still can't understand why there appears to be no deaths  so far

Baptism record for Niels Gregerson shows birthdate 25.12.1910 but I can't see a likely death for either of them

They don't appear to have had any children as I thought emigration may have been a possibility if any child emigrated

Marriage was 1931 Kent & GRO index shows him as Neils & her surname as Swan - not Swann

Was there an exact address in the newspaper cutting?

Probate: Matilda Frances Swan of 194a Dover Road, Folkestone d 16 August 1961. WIfe of James Mason Swan, retired fisherman.

194a Dover Road is at the end (corner of Morrison Road) of a terrace of small shops with rooms above; on street view looks to have been converted to a house now.

Added: I think I found it, a 1972 article about a new road scheme names him as a greengrocer of Dover Road, and also says that he is chairman of Folkestone Liberals.

NEW ZEALAND,!,  well I never expected that but it sounds right from the info, the dates  of birth spot on. I wonder when they emigrated?, obviously  after 1972 when he was in the local paper.

Would there be a written obituary in NZ., ,  i have FindMyPast   but not any other subs.

Wow!, huge thank you folks

Their wills are available on the NZ Archives site :

https://collections.archives.govt.nz/en/web/arena/search#/?q=gregerson

Both wills refer to " my son  - Gregerson ".

The earliest entry for Neils and Beatrice  on the Electoral Rolls that I can see is 1975 at 10 Royal Street Timaru. -The son Gregerson  is on the Rolls from 1966.

According to a family tree on Ancestry the son was born in 1942 and died in 2023 but there is no source to confirm. I've removed the forename in case he is alive.

The son appears on electoral rolls in NZ as a "Potter" and his wife as an "artist"

Last electoral roll I can find is 2010, and both are retired, living in Seadown (near Timaru).

Obituary for the son, in Timaru Herald on Oct. 16, 2023.

marriage Q2 1962 Folkestone
Michael S Gregerson
Elizabeth A Swash

I can’t find a birth record.

There is a tree on A*y with a photo of Michael Swan Gregerson, NZ. The tree suggests that his widow is still living. It has a birthdate for him of 8th August 1942, but no linked record.

Is it possible he is an adopted son?

I am elderly but my birth can be found on FreeBMD.

So if his does not show up then perhaps he was born under a different name.

Possibly Neils's Widowed mothers Obituary,24 February 1939.
Reference to Mrs Swan and Beatty makes me think it is.

I have identified most of the obituary  listings, there was also another Beatrice in the family,
I have been really enlightened with all of this info , I am sure the family would be on the Kent ER' s  up to about 1972 when Neil's and Beatrice emigrated, young Michael possibly not,

Thank you for your help

What a find?, I was told he was made to go back to Switerland, possibly was about 1914 ish, maybe  that was why his wife married again, assuming  he was returned and she could show herself as a widow
Very interesting  I must say
Thank you
