Hi all,
I have a problem in my tree I am hoping for some help, please.
Steven Kate (Keat) of Harwell - m - Anne Pinnill 7-10-1633 in Stanford-in-the-Vale, Berks then all subsequent children from 1634 - 1643 are bapt. in Harwell with parents Steven & Agnes
but I also have a Nicholas Keat (of Harwell) - m - Agnes Pynnel 15-10-1620 Harwell, Berks
At first thought I was thinking that Nicholas had died and Agnes remarried but no such record of that happening nor were any children recorded as being baptised to them in the Harwell records
I'm aware there is a bapt. for Agnes Pinnell 24-2-1612 in Stanford-in-the-Vale but that would make her very young to marry in 1620
Is it possible that Anne could have been mis-read for Agnes and vice-versa?
Any other suggestions welcome.
Alan

I googled "Ann and Agnes same name?" and a summary of the AI generated answer was that the names were often used interchangeably. Agnes used to be pronounced annis or anes (silent g). I had wondered, I get things wrong so often these days it's good to have suspicions confirmed!
