Please excuse if I have asked this before. I am trying to find a birth record of a George Walters. Son of John Thomas Walters and Elizabeth Morgan. There is a suggestion on Ancestry that he was born 27th February 1883 in Llantrisant but I can't find a birth record on GRO with Morgan as the mother living in Wales. There is one for Walsall. There is also another record for that name with Arnold as the mothers surname but that was in Devon. (Arnold was Elizabeth's mother maiden name) The suggestion on Ancestry says it is from a letter (Joyce Walters). Joyce was George's daughter George had a brother Richard Morgan Walters born 29th May 1879 Llantrisant in the district of Neath (my grandfather). George Walters married Agnes James and emigrated to Australia. His death record apparently states that Sarah Jane Woodward was his mother (His step mother). He died in Kurri Kurri New South Wales.
Regards Elaine. (Australia)
Again apologies if I have post this before but I can't find original.

Do you have a copy of the marriage of George Walters to Agnes James 1907 reg. Bedwelty Monmouthshire
It will tell you the name of his father for verification.
--------------------
When John Walters married Elizabeth Morgan he was a widower aged 31 she was 24 date 16 March 1876 at Baglan, Glamorganshire
-
Have you looked to see if he was reg under Woodward?
-
Elizabeth Walters doesn't appear to be living with her husband in any census and in 1881 their son Richard was living as a nephew with William Morgan and family - presumably his grandfather by his age. However in 1911 Elizabeth lists herself as married with two children still living- Richard and George presumably :-\

John Thomas Walters marries 26 December 1892 Bristol as Thomas Walters bachelor age 40 to Sarah Jane Woodward age 38
His father is the same William Walters _ Gardener as on the marriage to Elizabeth Morgan
He was already living with Sarah Jane on the 1891 census as man and wife in Bedwelty.
Is it possible George is the son of Sarah Jane Woodward before she officially married 1892?
-
I must be looking at a different family then?
1881
Thos. Walters 27 Head
Elizabeth Walters 28 Wife
Richard Walters 1 Son
1891
John Thomas Walters 42 Head
Sarah Jane Walters 36 Wife
Richard Walters 11 Son
George Walters 8 Son
I thought Elizabeth has her death reg 1881 age 27
Boy am I confused :) ;D
EDIT was a reply to kay99

Place of birth for George given as Llantrisant on census entries which is not in the district of Neath.
https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/Llantrisant
1901 census
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X91L-KFN?lang=en
A birth in Llantrisant would have been registered at Pontypridd at that time
https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/pontypridd.html
Probate entry for John Thomas Walters makes for interesting reading - he died 24 Sept 1914 of 23 Maesygraig St., Gilfach Bargoed. Probate 18 March 1915 to Sarah Jane Woodward, spinster, and Sarah Ann Phillips, wife of William Phillips.
Possibly acknowledging that his marriage to Sarah Jane wasn't legal.
1911 census at same address as on probate, JTW's birthplace mistranscribed, should be Loughor.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWXQ-H8T?lang=en
Actual entry shows no children born to the couple.
Report from 28 March 1884 of a court case about luggage lost the previous December, a box belonging to John Thomas Walters and his housekeeper, Sarah Jane Woodward.
https://newspapers.library.wales/view/4314492/4314496/79/?from=search
By the way, there was a birth registered Neath dec qtr 1883 for a George Augustus Woodward, but that child died the following year, death registered sept qtr 1884 Merthyr Tydfil.

Notes
There is a John Walters reg Pontypridd March quarter 1884 mother's maiden name Morgan
Could it be he was registered as John but called George as his father was John ?
A copy of the will would give invaluable information.

there shouldn't be a problem opening the newspaper link as it's from a free site. Just right click on the link. Unless you have some sort of blocker. It's from the Western Mail dated 28 March 1884. Don't think it's on FindMyPast.
