Title: Death of Former Soccer Player Thomas Septimus Dickinson
Post by: Duck on Tuesday 23 September 25 00:38 BST (UK)
Hi, the historian of my local soccer/footbball club has asked if I can find the death of a former player.  His name was Thomas Septimus Dickinson (he used his middle name), born 1890 in Lancashire, England.  Apparently he married in Ontario 11 Nov 1919.  As we can't find a death in the UK, we think he might of died in Canada, If anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you, Simon

There is an obituary I don't have access to on 4 Sept 1956 for T S DICKINSON at Central Hospital, Vancouver, in the newspaper "The Province".

Some trees on Ancestry have this record attached to Thomas Septimus DICKINSON, however I note that there is also a Thomas Smith DICKINSON who died in Vancouver on 1 Sept 1956 aged 56.

That's great Sandra. I thought the obituary and the death record must be related - the wrong T S DICKINSON. As is often the case, Ancestry trees have it incorrect.

Will keep looking - I can't see any records after 1931 for Thomas or Margaret.

I would like to thank everyone for their help.  I'm now wondering why there appears to be no death record for Thomas Septimus, why there was no mention of him in his brothers obituary, but his brothers in England were mentioned

Thank you once again

Simon

P.S.  Anymore idea's would be greatly appreciated

I think the reason the two brothers were mentioned in Alan's obituary was that they were still alive. Christopher dying in 1968 and Wilfred in 1969

Canada has no BMD index as you do in the UK. Canada also has very strict privacy laws which can make it difficult to trace unless we can find newspaper reports , obituaries etc.,
The obit of Alan Rimmer Dickinson shows that either they had no contact or Thomas had passed before 1964.
The anc trees seem to be getting mixed up and are referring to a different Thomas S Dickinson.

The "Thos S Dickinson, labourer" sailed 28 Apr 1811 can be discounted.

FindMyPast Passenger Lists, under ticket Number 29243 has the departure of -
"T S Dickinson, Auctioneer" sailing on the Megantic from Liverpool to Montreal, 27 May 1911. No age given.
The occupation is a nice fit with Septimus' occupation on the 1911 Southport Census.

Archives Canada under ticket number 29243 has the arrival at Quebec City of -
"Thos S Dickinson, age 21, Estate Agent, destination Montreal".
