Title: Bedminster Burial
Post by: lcsnor on Monday 22 September 25 18:38 BST (UK)
FindmyPast has a transcribed burial record with an unclear date for a John Parsons of East St. (it says 14 Apr ? 1859-1869) alongside transcribed burial for a John Parsons with a specific burial date but no mention of his being of East St. (14 Apr 1861).

I have a John Parsons in my tree, who was living in East Street, age 71, for the 1861 census which was on April 7th 1861, but can't find any trace of him after.

Does anyone have access to this record who may be able to clarify what it actually says?

Thank you so much in advance,
Louise

You have to remember that, until 1889, Bedminster Registration District was in Somerset.
Thereafter it was in Gloucestershire.

I used to live in Bedminster!

The one which mentions East St. says St John the Baptist, and gives this archive reference P/St.JBed/R/4/f  It mentions Page 80, and 'Somerset Burials' as the Record Set. It says the Archive is Somerset Archives, Page 80

The one with the exact date is also St John the Baptist and gives the same archive reference, and mentions 'Somerset Burials' as the Record Set, but says Bristol Archives.

the transcription of the burial has the age of that John as 7 days. Appears to go with this death reg

John Parsons 0 june qtr 1861 Bedminster vol 5c pg 508

Possible burial 31 May 1863 at Bristol General/Arno's Vale Cemetery for John Parsons age 74 of East Street, Bedminster.

Osprey -

Thank you so much!  That looks very promising.  I'll order the certificate and hopefully that will fill in one more piece in my puzzle.

Can I be greedy and ask if you happen to see a similar burial for Elizabeth Parsons (his wife) who I also last see in 1861 census on East Street, aged 66?

Really appreciate you're taking the time to help me.  Thank you!

Louise

I did notice one in the same cemetery, a match for age, but the address isn't East Street

26 Oct 1864 Elizabeth Parsons 68 of The Causeway, Bedminster

Elizabeth Parsons 68 dec qtr 1864 Bedminster vol 5c pg 526

Osprey,

Thanks so much for taking the time to look for me.

There are several Elizabeth Parson deaths registered in Bedminster so I've been reluctant to order certificates, but will give this one a try.

Greatly appreciated!

Louise

Thanks Osprey,
I now have these certificates, and they were indeed my 3x Gt Grandparents.

Thanks so much for your help!
